Many times projects call for doors that will serve a unique function. With more than three decades of experience, IDC has had the opportunity to satisfy many unusual door requirements. IDC can design, manufacture, and install a wide range of special purpose doors. There are no door challenges that IDC is not willing to consider.

  • Minnesota Vikings Stadium
    World’s Largest Pivot Doors
    Industrial Door Contractors, Inc. was contracted to fabricate these large specialty doors for the Minnesota Vikings new stadium.  Each of the five door panels are 55′ wide, varying from 75′ to 95′ high and weigh approximately 160,000lbs (each).  The pivoting motion will allow the doors to open so fans may enter and exit the stadium.

 

Construction Details

 

Location: The stadium was built on the site of the former Orange Bowl, located at 501 Marlins Way in Miami, Florida.

Construction Timeline: Construction began in July 2009, with the official opening on March 5, 2012, and the full operational opening for the regular season in April 2012.

Cost: The total construction cost was around $634 million

Capacity: The stadium has a capacity of 36,742 seats, which can be expanded to 37,442 with standing room.

Architect: The architectural design was handled by Populous.

General Contractor: Hunt/Moss Joint Venture served as the general contractor for the project. 

Retractable Roof: The stadium features a retractable roof to provide shelter from Miami’s intense weather, with the process of opening or closing it taking about 13 to 16 minutes.

Operable Wall (constructed by IDC):  Approximately 275′ Wide x 65′ High (Over 1 million pounds of steel and glass)

  • Las Vegas Raiders Stadium
    402′-6″ Long x 221′ Wide x 4′ Tall retractable Field Tray
  • IDC manufactured and installed approximately 2.5 million pounds of steel structure, the bottom rails, and all of the mechanization and electrical components for a complete system.
